A former prosecutor and Manhattan family court judge, Judith Susan Sheindlin (née Blum; born October 21, 1942), better known as Judge Judy, is an American court-show arbitrator, media personality, television producer, author, and philanthropist for women’s empowerment.
From September 16, 1996, to July 23, 2021, Sheindlin acted as Judge Judy in her own top Nielsen-rated court show for 25 seasons.
Sheindlin entered the Guinness World Records in 2015 for being the longest-serving television arbitrator in the history of courtroom-themed programming.
For her efforts, she was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Emmy in 2019.
